Opening of Zitarrosa Square

Thursday 16 March 2017

Last Thursday 16th March was inaugurated the renewed Zitarrosa Square,
located on Aquiles Lanza St. between Gonzalo Ramírez Ave. and Isla de Flores St.
Reconditioning was possible thanks to public-private coordination,
in which participated the City Hall, the “B” Municipality and the company Campiglia Constructions.
This remodeling improves the quality of life of the area and enhances the neighborhood itself,
which is growing by leaps and bounds thanks to the Real Estate Development "Estrellas del Sur".
The venture, located next to Zitarrosa Square and with the benefits of Law 18.795
in the 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, is made up of two towers:
one of 12 and other of 25 floors and a building of 4 floors by Isla de Flores St.
The first tower was opened in December 2015; meanwhile the tower 25 will be released in December this year.
“Estrellas del Sur” is in its last stage of construction,
which will add a building with commercial premises on the ground floor and three floors of apartments.
The beautiful project also has a large recreation area of over 2100m2 equipped with games for children
and sports space for adults.

The opening ceremony of the square began and ended with an emotional tribute to Alfredo Zitarrosa,
who lived many years of his youth in the lodging facing the front of the square.
The artistic tribute was provided by the "Black Guitar" Program, along with Zitarrosa's own guitar quartet,
while the oratory was conducted by the Mayor of Montevideo Eng. Daniel Martínez,
the president of the Municipality B Carlos Varela and Moriana one of the daughters of Zitarrosa
who was accompanied by her mother and sisters, as well as other authorities.

The renovated space features modern playground, open gym, benches, lighting
and a monument that identifies the square as Alfredo Zitarrosa,
it was designed by the architects Christoff, De Sierra, Comerci
and finalized by the team of Campiglia Constructions. It is a large recreational space
designed to promote the socialization and coexistence of the inhabitants of “Barrio Sur”,
as well as a well-deserved commemoration of an inescapable reference of Uruguayan popular music and culture.

Campiglia Constructions continues in the same spirit of 37 years ago,
contemplating the needs of our customers, generating jobs, adding value to the spaces
where intervenes and always working for a better country.
